Friday Fish List: What We Loved This Week, 11/20/2015

Ooooh the sunsets are nice--and way, way early--this time of year. We're keeping warm in the studio with lots of cups of hot tea and coffee; somehow it always tastes better out of a mug made by our neighbor, master potter Larry Letofsky.  It was a fun week that kicked off with the 100th (!!!) Sketch Tuesday at 111 Minna. Annie was one of the featured artists, and brought her signature bear hugs and sassy painted ladies out in full force. LOTS of creative folks here--y'all should definitely check this series out, it's really fun.  Here's a glimpse at what kept...

Friday Fish List: What We Loved This Week, 11/13/2015

We're getting ready for the holiday rush (plus Small Business Saturday on November 28th!). Yesterday Orlie and Eric mixed a selection of beautiful colored inks, then prepped and pulled a bunch of prints.  Baby it's crisp outside (yasss), but here are a few things that warmed the cockles of our collective hearts this week... (Programming note: We've rebranded our weekly Goings-Ons series as the Friday Fish List. Annie came up with the title, and it's just too damn good.) Annie Zippered bags! This week I took a sewing class with my friend Ashli at a wonderful store in Mill Valley called...

Goings-Ons: What We Loved This Week

This week we had a nice afternoon visit with our friend James. He runs the (very awesome) Aesthetic Union, a letterpress print shop and gallery in the Mission, and came by to print a blue edition of his lovely Luna linocut. Here he is (above), admiring his work with Jerry, one of our favorite locals. In other news, the crisp weather has gotten us giddy--and a little goofy. Here's some of our thoughts and loves from the week.... Annie Rubber hand Illusion! I bought a rubber hand specifically so I could subject everyone in the studio to the rubber hand experiment....

Open Studios. This Weekend. We're so ready.  It's been a whopping ten years that 3 Fish Studios has been a part of this program celebrating local artists creating original art, made in San Francisco, and it's made a massive difference in our business, and our lives. In other words: It's awesome, and we want to celebrate with you. We'll be debuting a brand new collaboration between Eric and our pal Paul Madonna, with super cool ceramics and original art from Annie. Come hang, Saturday and Sunday (October 24th and 25th) from 11am to 6pm! In the meantime, here's a few...

Goings-Ons: What We Loved This Week

Posted by Jordan Kushins on

Welcome to the weekend, friends. We're sending you off on this fine Friday with solid advice from Annie (above), and cool things we dig that we think you might just dig, too (below). Enjoy.  Annie We are gearing up for Open Studios this month--October 24th and 25th!--and I wanted to give a shout-out to Joen Madonna, ArtSpan's executive director. She works incredibly hard, and (with unflagging grace and good humor) has really turned the organization around in the last couple of years. Brava to Joen; we think you're awesome! This is Joen and me at an ArtSpan event earlier this year. ...
