We're Small Business of the Year!

Wait what?  Such cool news to kick things off: We're beyond honored to have been selected as 2016's Outer Sunset Small Business of the Year by Katy Tang, our wonderful district supervisor. When we started 3 Fish Studios ten years ago—out of our garage during ArtSpan's Open Studios—we never could have imagined how our biz would grow, with so many fantastic folks and the support of a great  community along the way. If you'd like to attend a small ceremony on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 24th at San Francisco City Hall, email us and we will send you details. And thanks for everything, everyone! Here's to ten more years.

Catch a Wave

Last month, we hosted our fave surf photographer, Pedro Bala, at our studio for a weekend. He showed some of his epic images of local breaks and waves up and down the California coast; one in particular served as major inspiration for Eric, who carved a set of giant new plates based on a pic of Nic Vaughan carving up a crazy wave at Mavericks. We’re selling a very limited edition of hand-pulled original prints in the shop in both blue and orange.

I Left My Book in San Francisco

If you didn’t have a chance to nab one of our Literary Maps of San Francisco—a cool Eric/Annie collabo for Independent Bookstore Day—don’t worry about it! We got you; prints are now available on our site. Lots of old and new classics listed, with some of our favorite authors working today and those who came before. Consider it your new recommended reading list!

Save the date: Saturday, May 28th, to pop by our Outer Sunset hub for a sidewalk sale extravaganza—plus burgers and BBQ in the afternoon. Lots of goodies, priced to move!

Paul Madonna: Close Enough for the Angels

We’re very excited for our good friend Paul Madonna, who has both a book release AND a major art exhibition—his first solo show in five years (!)—opening at The Dryansky Gallery on Thursday, May 19th. With incredible new drawings and text panels from Close Enough for the Angels, an illustrated novel created on location in Thailand, Japan and China, it’s going to be a must-see stunner, for sure. Be sure to check it out.

Bluegrass fans, put down the moonshine and listen up. We're hosting a bunch of musicians to hang in our backyard and… just jam, really!  Be sure to watch our Facebook page for info on the next show!

The Sunsets Presents Seth Lael

 seth-lael-musician-san-francisco-local-artist

Lots of sonic goings-ons in May! For the latest session of The Sunsets—a semi-regular series where local talent plays in our backyard—we’re super pleased to present the alternative-folksy-experimental-pop stylings of our (literal, as in right next door) Outer Sunset neighbor, Seth Lael. On Sunday May 29th, at around 5pm, he’ll perform live, and we’d love for you to join us.

We're always open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am to 6pm. We hope to see you soon!
