About this Print

This print, and all the prints in the “Rewitzer Reproductions” collection, begins with photographs (typically his own) that Eric hand-transfers onto a piece of linoleum (or wood). Using Japanese wood-carving tools, it takes Eric anywhere from 40-80 hours just to carve a plate. Once he’s achieved his desired, we scan Eric’s original prints to a create high quality digital reproduction, which we then print with8-color archival inks on archival bright white heavyweight paper. The result is beautiful and vibrant, and every digital print is is signed and embossed by Eric.

Meet Eric Rewitzer

Eric was born and raised on the industrial shores of Lake Michigan. He
took the California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco in 1987. It
was a one-way ticket. Eric finds constant inspiration in the natural
variation of the California landscape and the diversity of Californian
culture. You can find more of his work in the “Woodcuts and Linocuts”
collection, as well as the “Creature Feature”, “Go By Train, and “Ports”

Lifted my spirit

This print does a perfect job of depicting the hope I have for California--especially during this troubling time of attempted voter suppression in so many states. It lifted my spirits after the disheartening 2016 election

Yes! This art represents us

We bought a few pieces of this print after we saw the moving story of it in the newspaper ad (San Francisco chronicle). Over the years we have gotten numerous inquiries and compliments about it. It’s definitely a conversation starter. One copy hangs in my office and visitors stop to take it all in. The poppies are so bright orange, while the bear and the map of the state show some beautiful detail. I have given copies of this print as gifts and just re-ordered another 3.
