Original Woodcuts and Linocuts

Original Woodcuts and Linocuts

This collection features original woodcut and linocut prints by Eric Rewitzer, each hand-printed on Rives BFK paper using a Conrad Machine etching press. Created through a process of carving, inking, and pressing by hand, these prints represent the heart of Eric’s 20-year art career—a career shaped by deep appreciation for the natural world and the places that inspire wonder.

Drawing from California’s coastline, forests, mountains, and open skies, Eric’s work invites a slower gaze and a sense of gratitude. While some of these original editions have sold out, archival-quality reproductions are available here—each one carefully produced in-house and signed by the artist.

Whether you’re discovering Eric’s work for the first time or adding to your collection, we hope these prints bring a bit of California’s beauty into your world.

How They Are Made

Each of Eric’s original prints begins with a photograph—typically one of his own—which he hand-transfers onto a block of linoleum or wood. Using traditional Japanese carving tools, he carefully carves the design in reverse. It’s a meticulous, hands-on process that demands patience and precision, but Eric embraces the technical challenge, finding joy in the slow, meditative rhythm of the work.

Once the plate is complete, each print is produced entirely by hand. The block is inked, the paper—Rives BFK, archival and beautifully textured—is torn to size, and the print is pulled using a Conrad Machine etching press. In some cases, Eric adds color by hand using watercolors once the ink has dried, bringing even more depth and individuality to each piece.

From the spark of inspiration to the final signature, every step is handled by the artist himself. Each print is a unique expression of place, process, and presence—an object made with care, meant to be lived with.

People often ask how long it takes to make one of these prints. Eric’s standard answer?

“Fifty-nine years,” he says with a sparkle in his eye.
