Featured in Time Magazine, our California Rising linocut print has become an icon of the Golden State's fighting spirit. It is held in multiple private and public collections, including the California Historical Society and the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.
This original block print is 24" wide by 42" tall. It is printed on a hand-torn sheet of Rives BFK printmaking paper, which is imaged with a background featuring a vintage map of California with the red star of the California state flag.
Next, a hand-carved block of linoleum is inked up, and printed onto the background with a 48" monotype press. Once the ink dries, poppies and the bear's fur are hand-painted by both Annie Galvin and Eric Rewitzer, who sign the finished print. Embossed with the 3 Fish Studios logo in lower right.
The artwork will be carefully rolled and placed in a sturdy tube for shipment.
