The Story
Inspired by the traditional Mexican Árbol de la Vida, Annie created this painting as a tribute to the rich ecosystems of California.
At the center of the composition is a flourishing tree alive with native wildlife. Eagles and songbirds perch among the blossoms while a hummingbird hovers nearby. Beneath the branches, a fox, bear, hare, and other woodland creatures gather among bright California poppies.
The entire scene glows against a bold pink background, a color found all around Mexico City that we’ve come to call CDMX pink. The vibrant backdrop gives the painting a sense of celebration and energy while honoring the folk art traditions that inspired it.
