Goings-Ons: What We Loved This Week

This week we had a nice afternoon visit with our friend James. He runs the (very awesome) Aesthetic Union, a letterpress print shop and gallery in the Mission, and came by to print a blue edition of his lovely Luna linocut. Here he is (above), admiring his work with Jerry, one of our favorite locals. In other news, the crisp weather has gotten us giddy--and a little goofy. Here's some of our thoughts and loves from the week.... Annie Rubber hand Illusion! I bought a rubber hand specifically so I could subject everyone in the studio to the rubber hand experiment....

Orlie likes Halloween candy so much that sometimes she tries to eat it without taking off the wrapper first. Mmmm, Snickers.... Annie I was going through some old boxes and I found these photograph wallets that I found in my parents' house. (My mother never threw anything away.) Look at the attempt fo the color photograph wallet to look futuristic, thus only making it look more firmly fixed in its own decade! Open Studios. This Weekend. We're so ready.  It's been a whopping ten years that 3 Fish Studios has been a part of this program celebrating local artists creating original art, made in San Francisco, and it's made a massive difference in our business, and our lives. Come hang, Saturday and Sunday (October 24th and 25th) from 11am to 6pm! In the meantime, here's a few...

MOTHRA. What a badass bug. She looks damn good in the studio, in all her incarnations.  We're gearing up for Outer Sunset Open Studios--October 23rd and 24th! With Paul Madonna!--and in the meantime are super stoked on the goodies below. Happy Friday! Annie What's making me happy this week is the wonderful people we with work, like Mark Dwight of Rickshaw Bagworks. We had a nice visit to their Dogpatch factory yesterday and took a look at some of the new bags they're making. Our first studio was in Dogpatch, so it was nice to be back in the neighborhood.  Eric...

Welcome to the weekend, friends. We're sending you off on this fine Friday with solid advice from Annie (above), and cool things we dig that we think you might just dig, too (below). Enjoy.  Annie We are gearing up for Open Studios this month--October 24th and 25th!--and I wanted to give a shout-out to Joen Madonna, ArtSpan's executive director. She works incredibly hard, and (with unflagging grace and good humor) has really turned the organization around in the last couple of years. Brava to Joen; we think you're awesome! This is Joen and me at an ArtSpan event earlier this year. ...
